The design goal for Niagara 7000 pertains to successfully addressing power-line problems that prevent audio/video components from achieving their potential. Due to the great increase in airborne and AC-line-transmitted radio signals, combined with overtaxed utility lines and ever-increasing demands from high-definition audio/video components, A/V systems fall short of getting the power required to fulfill their potential. Furthermore, today's power amplifiers are strained for instantaneous peak-current demand even when driven at modest volumes. Although there has been a substantial increase in dynamic range from audio software, the loudspeakers are often no more efficient than they were 50 years ago.
This places great demands on an amplifier's power supply, as well as the source of AC power supplying it.
