George Thorogood And The Destroyers Move It On Over Vinyl LP

When it comes to real rock and roll - the kind defined by original masters such as Chuck Berry and John Lee Hooker - no band has kept the torch burning brighter than George Thorogood and the Destroyers. While the core of the band - George, bass player Billy Blough and drummer Jeff Simon - have now been barnstorming the world for over 30 years, these are the high energy and long out of print recordings that first put them on the map remastered and reissued by Rounder Records/Concord Music Group.

1978's Move It On Over was George Thorogood’s (and Rounder Record’s) first gold record. Thorogood & the Destroyers take on a wider range of tunes than on their blues-based 1977 self-titled debut, here adding their distinctive stomp to Johnny Cash’s “Cocaine Blues,” and their hit rendition of the title tune, originally done by Hank Williams. There's plenty of the hard blues stuff, too, including “The Sky Is Crying,” Chuck Berry’s “It Wasn’t Me,” and more. While they went on to make more commercially successful albums in their career, the spirit and innocence of Move It On Over was never duplicated.
