John Hiatt Bring the Family Colored 180g Vinyl LP

Regarded as one of if not the best album of John Hiatt's storied career, the 1987 masterpiece Bring The Family was recorded unrehearsed in just four days with what what was the singer/songwriter's dream line-up: Ry Cooder on guitar, Nick Lowe on bass and Jim Keltner on drums. Serving as both a personal and commercial breakthrough for Hiatt, the excitement of working with his favorite musicians surfaces in a sizzling spontaneity in the album's classic grooves.

Produced by John Chelew, Bring The Family was Hiatt's first album to chart on the Billboard 200 spawning the single "Thank You Girl" while further highlights include "Memphis In The Meantime," "Thing Called Love" (later a hit for Bonnie Raitt) and "Have A Little Faith In Me" (later covered by Joe Cocker and Bon Jovi). A handful of years later, Hiatt and company reconvened but this time under the Little Village moniker for an album of the same name.

"Bring the Family is one of the most sublime and deeply felt albums of the Eighties. "I think the effect this group of musicians had on each other is that we all wanted to do our best," Hiatt says. "The way I look at the album today, I really see it as a true collaboration, of which I was just a cog in the wheel. I'm not trying to feign humility, but it was just such a group effort. It's a very inspirational bunch. I would like to go on record to say I sure hope it happens again." - #53 on Rolling Stone's '100 Best Albums of the Eighties'
