Johnny Winter Step Back Vinyl LP

Final Studio Album featuring Ben Harper, Eric Clapton, Brian Setzer, Billy Gibbons, Leslie West, Joe Perry & Dr. John

2015 Grammy Award Winner for Best Blues Album

Step Back is blues legend Johnny Winter's last studio album following his death on July 16, 2014 and perhaps the greatest of his long and revered career. Produced by Paul Nelson, the 13-song swan song features an amazing list of musical guests and takes Johnny back to a more aggressive style of the blues...one that helped shape the musical icon.

Step Back showcases classic songs that were inspiring to Johnny as an artist like "Unchain My Heart," "Killing Floor" "Who Do You Love," "Sweet Sixteen," "Death Letter," "Long Tall Sally" and "Mojo Hand" among others. Joining the blues great here are Ben Harper, Eric Clapton, Brian Setzer, Billy Gibbons, Joe Bonamassa, Jason Ricci, Leslie West, Joe Perry and Dr. John.

Nelson recalls recording "Death Letter," which would be Winter's final studio performance: "I had one of those moments where you just knew what you were watching was magic and history in the making. This was Johnny playing the way he loved most, paying tribute to the past while making the song his own. This track was recorded in one take. Amazing."

From his legendary Grammy-winning production on albums for Muddy Waters, to his Woodstock performance, to playing Madison Square Garden with Janis Joplin and standing toe to toe with Jimi Hendrix, no stage was too big for Johnny Winter. His vibrant new album bookends a brilliant career with the songs that influenced him and the artists he in turn influenced paying their respects alongside their hero.
