Ornette Coleman New York Is Now! Vinyl LP

Remastered and Reissued As Part of the Blue Note 75th Anniversary Vinyl Reissue Campaign

The inventor of what has been called “free jazz,” Ornette Coleman belongs to that rare breed of artists/thinkers whose influence extends far beyond the realm of their chosen medium. Always putting his remarkable virtuosity at the service of melody and emotion, he has had a powerful impact on how musicians play, improvise, and compose, on how music lovers listen, on the color and sound of music the world over.

Originally recorded during the same sessions that produced Love Call, 1968's New York Is Now! finds the singular jazz saxophonist in a unique quartet setting with Dewey Redman (tenor saxophone), Jimmy Garrison (bass) and Elvin Jones (drums) turning out first-rate modal jazz as only he can. New York Is Now! is being reissued as part of Blue Note's 75th anniversary vinyl initiative spearheaded by current President, Don Was.
