Stan Getz Quartets features material from three separate New York City sessions the great tenor saxophonist cut with multiple quartets including: a June 1949 session with Al Haig (piano), Gene Ramey (bass) and Stan Levey (drums); a January 1950 session with Haig (piano), Tommy Potter (bass) and Roy Haynes (drums); and a April 1950 session with Tony Aless (piano), Percy Heath (bass) and Don Lamond (drums). Contains takes on the singular ballads "What's New," "My Old Flame" and "Mar-Cia," alongside more uptempo favorites like "There's a Small Hotel," "Too Marvelous for Words" and "The Lady in Red."
