The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on CD

Digitally Re-Mastered for the First Time on CD! Includes a Newly Produced Mini-Documentary QuickTime File on the Making of the Album!

Apple Corps Ltd. and EMI Music announce the digitally re-mastered individual CD releases of the original Beatles catalog which encompasses all 12 Beatles albums plus Magical Mystery Tour and Past Masters Vol. I & II.

The albums have been re-mastered by a dedicated team of engineers that includes Guy Massey, Steve Rooke, Sam Okell with Paul Hicks and Sean Magee at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios in London over a four year period utilizing state of the art recording technology alongside vintage studio equipment, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result of this painstaking process is the highest fidelity the catalog has seen since its original release.

Within each CD’s new packaging, booklets include detailed historical notes along with informative recording notes. With the exception of the Past Masters' set, newly produced mini-documentaries on the making of each album, directed by Bob Smeaton, are included as QuickTime files on each album. The documentaries contain archival footage, rare photographs and never-before-heard studio chat from The Beatles, offering a unique and very personal insight into the studio atmosphere.

Before Sgt. Pepper, no one really thought of rock music as actual art. The Beatles and George Martin changed that when they consciously compounded such disparate influences as psychedelia, art-song, classical music, rock & roll and music hall, often in the course of one song, with remarkable results. No album is as historically important as Sgt. Pepper, and the doors it opened in pop music are undeniable. From Lennon's evocative "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and carnival-like "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite," to McCartney's music hall-styled "When I'm 64," to Harrison's Eastern-leaning "Within You Without You," and the avant-garde mini-suite, "A Day In The Life," Sgt. Pepper is a milestone in every sense of the word.
