Grateful Dead Fillmore East 2-11-69 180g Vinyl 3LP
It's no secret that the Grateful Dead's concerts were often of epic proportions. Always known for being on top of the audiophile medium, the Dead recorded a majority of their legendary shows over the years for posterity with state of the art equipment.
This historic date at New York City's famed Fillmore East on 2-11-69 was of no exception as Phil Lesh and producer John Cutler teamed up with Dead archivist David Lemeiux to compile this 17-track tour de force from the early and late shows.
A late-60s line-up of Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Bill Kruetzmann, Ron McKernana and Tom Constanten offer up definitive like takes of the beloved "Dark Star," Aoxomoxoa cuts "St. Stephen" and "Dupree's Diamond Blues" and jam gems "The Other One" and "The Eleven." They also revisit their roots in signature style on such blues classics as "Good Morning Little School Girl" and "I'm A King Bee" plus the Bobby Blue Bland rhythm & blues warhorse "Turn On Your Lovelight."
As an added treat they even tip their hat to the Beatles with an exemplary cover of "Hey Jude."
Limited edition triple 180g vinyl pressing from Friday Music, mastered by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and Capitol Records in Hollywood, CA. Packaged in a stunning tri-fold cover complete with Gary Lambert's original liner notes.
